Get Involved! Help FDA Understand YOU Better at the August 29 FDA Workshop on Outcomes Beyond A1c
Which diabetes outcomes beyond A1c matter most to you?
The diaTribe Foundation is partnering with the JDRF, the American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and Anna McCollister-Slipp/Scripps to organize an FDA Workshop on Outcomes Beyond A1c, scheduled for August 29. Learn more about the event from the FDA and diaTribe Founder Kelly Close’s blog.
The workshop hopes to build upon a November 2014 FDA event that brought thousands of patients and advocates together to share valuable patient perspectives with the FDA to better inform the review process for diabetes drugs and devices. Many in attendance emphasized the limitations of A1c numbers – alone – as the measure of success for treatment and research outcomes. Alternative considerations, suggested as supplements to A1c, included time in range, occurrences of hypoglycemia, glucose variability, weight change, diabetes burden, and more.
