JDRF's One Walk will be held virtually this year. Build your team, set a walking goal, and walk wherever you want, whenever you want. Then, join the national JDRF community for a virtual celebration event on November 1
Each year the JDRF holds a series of One Walk events, bringing together more than 900,000 people affected by type 1 diabetes. At JDRF One Walk, people with diabetes and their families and friends and additional support networks gather to walk, raise funds for diabetes research, build community, and further boost awareness of type 1 diabetes. This year, the normally local events will go virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The JDRF One Walk has been reimagined: instead of gathering for a big walk with your local JDRF community, participants and teams will set their own walking goals and will complete their walks all across the United States, wherever and whenever they’d like. JDRF’s goal this year is to walk a grand total of 1.6 million miles, to show support and represent the 1.6 million people who live with type 1 diabetes in the United States today.
A virtual national One Walk festival is planned for Sunday, November 1, 2020. The closing event will celebrate the strength of the type 1 diabetes community and the funds raised for type 1 diabetes treatments, preventions, and cures.
If you have type 1 diabetes or know someone with type 1 diabetes, consider creating a JDRF One Walk team – learn more and sign up. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area and would like to do a socially-distanced walk with diaTribe founder Kelly Close and friends, or if you’d like to join the team remotely, please let us know.
